At Ramsey Junior School, children have the opportunity to develop their musical knowledge, understanding and skills. Teachers follow the Cambridgeshire Music Programme of Study ‘Charanga’ which shows progression throughout the school in listening, composing, performing and appraising music. Children have access to a large range of tuned and untuned percussion instruments as well as other musical resources to support their learning. Also, cross-curricular singing is encouraged throughout the school. Children listen to a wide variety of musical genres from different cultures and learn about the history of music. Singing is also an integral part of our school. The children sing in weekly music assemblies, school performances, cross-curricular lessons and in the wider community. The school offers extra-curricular musical activities that include the school choir. The choir performs in the local and wider community and in school. Private music lessons are available through the ASCA Music Service.
